Nuts have good protein, good fats, a bit of fiber, and very few carbohydrates.  All this makes them a healthy choice. But..walnuts have omega 3 fats too, about 4 grams per ounce, making them an even better dietary choice.  Each day 1.5 ounces of nuts is part of my food routine.  One ounce of the nut mix I eat is from walnuts and the other half-ounce is from a mix of almonds and pistachios.  This is a tasty way to eat more of those hard to get omega 3 fats (unless you eat fish, or swallow one of the gigantic fish oil capsules). The nuts are weighed and bagged to have them ready to grab with our lunches.  Yes, you can purchase this mix already premeasured in 1.5 ounce packages. Now you are paying for the nuts, and the packaging which makes them almost too expensive.  Buy walnuts, almonds, and pistachios in bulk. Get out your kitchen scale and enjoy nuts as your snack of choice.
