buffet set up

Having friends in to dinner is one of my favorite things to do. A formal, ‘sit-down’ type dinner is not my favorite. I love is to serve my food buffet style. Friends can take what they want, how much they want, and choose where to sit( and whom to sit next to!). I prepare easy-to-serve food, nothing too  messy or intricate. On a sidebroad or table I set out cloth napkins, and a stack of plates. The flatware I like to stand in vintage malt glasses. A tall malt glass for knives, a bit shorter malt glass for forks, and a tall sundae glass for spoons. The flatware takes up less space on the buffet and looks attractive. Vintage malt and sundae glasses can easily hold up to twelve utensils, and perhaps more. Vintage glasses are not expensive, and new ice cream glassware can be found at most kitchen stores. The next time you set out a buffet, try using vintage ice cream glasses to hold your flatware. Classy, fun, and efficient!
